johari or nohari
Back to 2006 - the interactive Johari Window.
http://kevan.org/johari?view=wy7i9ht - you can add your own view, or create your own at http://kevan.org/johari
Or for the darker side, make your own nohari window (negative traits / weaknesses):
http://kevan.org/nohari
Will knowing what others think of you make you any happier ?
Or would you rather not know ?
Chicken.
Cluck, cluck... cluck.

"On Our Own Terms"
Grief is the tax on our affections. As much as we pleasure in our loves, their loss and resulting sorrow is the inevitable price.

The Darkroom of Damocles
The Darkroom of Damocles, by Willem Frederik Hermans
translated from the Dutch by Ina Rilke
Who are the "good guys" or "bad guys"? Who can you trust ?
How do you know when you have been betrayed by the one into whose hands you have put your entire trust, and life?
Maybe you will never find out. Perhaps it is better if you remain uncertain, and keep what you believe rather than find out that the truth is ugliest of all the ways things can turn out.
Tension between redemption and justice. Idealistically justice is based on finding the truth, but redemption ? Maybe in some situations redemption and forgiveness have their own value.

chock full of words from another era, another part of the world:

Rizla (still making the stuff)
Leidschendam viaduct
..and of course many others..
