music and success - not just for fighting alzheimers

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/12/22/opinion/sunday/music-and-success.html

Here is something to remember -- music contributes to the success and active mental and emotional improvement of geezers (I admit I am one myself) but stimulates a joy that is undeniable.   So the randomized science does not "prove" a cognitive benefit -- maybe that's not what music about anyway.

From the article:
As Aristotle wrote, music “makes the hearts of men glad: so that on this ground alone we may assume that the young ought to be trained in it.”
